Cancer Cure is Available But Your Doctor Won’t Tell You About It.

Cancer

Article by From the desk of Dr Magne, author of Cancer Free For Life.

The public is warned against getting information from the internet on curing cancer. New headlines blared that cancer sites posed a health risk. The real reason the media are attacking cancer websites is because the internet is the only place people can go to actually learn the truth about the cancer industry and cures for cancer that don’t involve chemotherapy, surgeries, or other radical procedures offered by western medicine. Organized medicine is learning the hard way that people are educating themselves about cancer and about alternatives to treating this disease, and that scares the industry because it threatens profits.

Ideally what the industry wants is a form of censorship — they want websites to be flagged to indicate which ones are “official” cancer websites. What’s amazing about all this is the level of ignorance they show when they say there is no evidence that any complementary treatment can prevent cancer. In fact, there is a tremendous amount of evidence. And much of that evidence is published in traditional medical journals – so far there is compelling evidence showing nutritional approaches to both preventing and reversing cancer.

There are a great number of complementary treatments that are proven not only to be effective, but far more effective than anything that western medicine can offer. Survival rates for cancers treated by western medicine of patients undergoing chemotherapy are measured in months, not even years. In fact, chemotherapy is largely a fraud. There is no evidence that chemotherapy increases overall lifespan at all. Chemotherapy is only measured a success by the degree to which it shrinks tumors, and tumor shrinkage is not strongly correlated with enhanced life expectancy of the patient.

That’s because cancer is not a local disease, it is a system disorder — it is a failure of the patient’s immune system and it is present throughout the body, not just in one place that can be surgically removed. Chemotherapy destroys a patient’s immune system, and this is precisely the opposite of what needs to take place in order to prevent cancer. A patient’s immune system needs to be boosted through mind-body medicine, nutritional therapies, physical exercise, herbal remedies, homeopathic medicine, acupuncture, and other forms of therapy.

The cancer industry wants to prevent new treatments that actually work but are suppressed at every opportunity. Today, people who are diagnosed with cancer have no better survival rate than a person who avoids western medicine treatments. In fact, there are people who change their lifestyle, who learn about nutrition, take anti-cancer herbs. Alternative medicine and natural healing approaches are inexpensive: they are safe to use, they are widely used throughout the world, and they’ve been proven safe through thousands of years of effective use by various populations of the world who know far more about medicine and healing than our so-called “high-tech” system of modern medicine.

The Democrat-controlled US senate has shot down a Republican-led debt ceiling plan, just hours after it was passed in the House of Representatives. The plan, put forward by House Speaker John Bayner, would have raised the country’s debt ceiling by 900 billion dollars along with a similar amount in spending cuts. And as the clock ticks down to August 2nd, when the debt limit is reached, there’s less time to avert an unprecedented default crisis, which might prompt the US to lose its top-notch credit rating. Senate Democrat leader Harry Reid now hopes his proposal will see a compromise, which could keep the government afloat. And, according to economist Max Fraad Wolff, this plan is more likely to get the green light. RT on Twitter: twitter.com RT on Facebook: www.facebook.com

What is Colon Cancer & Treatment

Cancer

If you fall into that category, then hopefully the information that you receive here will put you at ease, as well as inspire you to find out
more from the vast storehouse of information that is available.

What is cancer?
Briefly, it is brought about when cells in our body do not mature. A normal healthy cell has a specific function to perform in the body. These immature cells are not performing their proper function, and so remain undeveloped. They then begin feeding on the body, stealing nutrition in an attempt to grow, and thus become cancerous. How quickly they grow out of control, causing the spread of the cancer, is dependant on the strength of an individuals natural defenses against these cells.

Every day, every one of us is exposed to innumerable cancer-causing agents. It has been established that approximately 70 to 80 percent of all cancers occur as a result of the food we eat, the air we breathe and the water we drink, as well as lifestyle and environmental factors. Approximately one third of deaths from cancer are related to dietary factors. Our bodies have natural defense mechanisms to battle these ‘agents’, but in many cases, because of neglecting proper nutrition and exercise, and abusing our bodies by loading them with even more harmful agents, then these defenses are weakened or overwhelmed, and cancer begins to gain a foothold in the body.

Colon cancer, or colorectal cancer as it’s sometimes known as  is cancer which starts in the digestive, or gastrointestinal (GI) system. A colon’s primary responsibility is to process food into energy and remove all waste materials. As with any cancer, the disease begins when cancerous cells begin to grow out of control compared to normal, non-cancer cells. Every cancer is different depending on where it occurs, so colon cancer will generally progress at a different rate, cause different
symptoms, and respond to different medical treatments. Although there are some specific treatment methods for the different body areas affected, there are some basic principles, which are common to all cancer forms. .

Perhaps you’re reading this article because you are suffering form cancer right now, or perhaps you know someone else who is. Maybe you’re just looking for information to help avoid it in the future. Whatever your circumstances are, I urge you to imprint the following statement deeply into your mind – Cancer Can Be Conquered! However, with the rapid advances that have been made with modern medicine, as well as the rediscovery of ancient natural therapies that are built upon good nutrition and sound principles of daily living, it can be stated with confidence. I’ll say it again – Cancer Can Be Conquered.

The first victory over colon cancer is it must be made on the battlefield of the mind. It is here that fear seeks to control and overwhelm you. I would encourage you to make a firm decision to stand up against this giant of fear, and to reach beyond it to find hope and faith. There is a statement that is made that says, ‘You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.’ So, the first step to being set free from the enemy of fear is to find out the truth concerning cancer. The lie has for too long been that cancer is the end of the road – incurable.

The truth is just the opposite. Realize that and set yourself free from the numbing fear of cancer that wants to defeat you. Say that you are more than enough to fight against it. Make a firm decision that you are going to defeat with you will power.

Most of the time, colon cancer spreads slowly over a period of years, and colon cancer can effect any section or layer of your colon. The key to have a good prognosis with colon cancer is to catch the disease early. If a doctor can find and remove a colon cancer polyp in the early stages, then there is a much better chance of recovery. Risk factors of colon cancer include age, family history, smoking, ethnicity, diet, lack of exercise, alcohol, and history of other bowel disease. If you are in an at-risk category, then it is important to get a colon cancer screening test. If you are unsure with you fit the profile, talk to ask primary physician first.

Our supplementary diets have a positive effect. They are natural and have no side effects. We should also be positive in that certain foods greatly strengthen and aid our built in immune system in the ongoing battle against our healthy body cells. We should be negative in that there are certain foodstuffs that have been shown to be harmful, and to greatly speed up the growth and spread of cancer cells. It thus becomes imperative that we learn what foodstuffs are immune boosters, and which ones weaken it.

Besides our diet, the next major contributing factor to consider is the environment we are living in. More and more vehicles are being produced, and more and more factories built, pumping out toxic gases into the atmosphere, causing a subtle build-up of toxins in our
bodies, wearing down the ability of the immune system to cope. Unfortunately, we have very little control over these environmental effects, other than to relocate to a safer
environment, which is not always possible. This then makes it even more vital for us to build up our immune systems with the right foods, and supplementary minerals and vitamins.

One last consideration to take note of is that any cancer is more easily defeated if caught in its early stages. Therefore it is very important to have regular medical check-ups, even if we are feeling fine. Then too, learn what are the telltale symptoms for the various cancers, and at the first evidence of anything suspicious, get it checked out by your doctor.

Colon cancer has become the 3rd most common form of Cancer in men and 4th in women and is the second leading cause of death among cancers. If it is left untreated, it can spread and affect other parts of the body, such as the liver and lungs, causing new tumors to form in these organs.  This process of the cancer spreading is called metastasis.  Once metastasis sets in, the chances of curing the cancer completely are slim.

Therefore early detection is key to making a full recovery. The removal of benign (non-cancerous) colon polyps can prevent colon cancer. Colon polyps initially appear in benign form. Over time, benign colon polyps can undergo chromosome damage to become cancerous. There is no definitive cause for colon cancer, but diets high in fat are believed to play a role in the formation. Other factors include a family history of colon cancer, polyps in the large intestine and ulcerative colitis.  A history of breast cancer may also slightly increase the risk of colon cancer.

Colon cancer, in most cases has no symptoms. Symptoms for the potential of colon cancer, however, may include; diarhea, less frequent bowel movements, blood in stool,
abdominal pain, unexplained weight loss, anemia. Screening tests are the most effective way of catching colon cancer early, allowing for improved chances of successful treatment.

Men and women over the age of 50 and those with identified risk factors, are urged to undergo regular screening to prevent and to allow early diagnosis of colon cancer.  See the doctor to identify potential risk factors and to develop a strategy for early screening.
If detected early, colon cancer can be properly treated. Which makes it vitally important for any who experience symptoms to see a physician as soon as possible.  If left entreated, the chances of surviving colon cancer diminish greatly.

By keeping a healthy life style and good eating habits, you can prevent developing cancer of the colon even before this becomes a problem. You might also want to try and check your family history for cases of colon cancer and adopt a healthier diet in order to make sure you will avoid this problem in the future.

Colon cancer treatments are varied and you can choose from a series of traditional and alternative methods of dealing with this condition. Here at our center we provide you with the natural dietary supplements which has no side effects and are cured with confidence.

There are many cases of colon cancer today, with significantly more people being diagnosed with this potentially deadly disease below age 50 than previously. Colon cancer used to be considered a disease of the elderly, but nowadays many younger people are diagnosed with this kind of disease. This is more because of unhealthy lifestyles such as eating habits, lack of exercises and many other factors. People tend to consume junk food and any other foods that are over-processed and contain high fat and sugar. This allows the chemically-laced food to sit in colon for longer time and lead to the cancer disease.

Several ways to keep your colon healthy:
1. A balanced diet will supply your body with sufficient nutrition: balance in carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals. It will be better to get all these nutritions naturally by consuming healthy foods such as: fresh vegetables and beans, fish, fruits, seafood and milk. Taking daily supplements also will help.

2.  Reduce intake of over-processed foods, especially fried foods because these foods contain of high fat that is dangerous to health. You can also choose organic foods that are higher in nutrition. Avoid sausage, hot dogs, ham, and many of which contain salt, sodium nitrites and sodium nitrates, which play big role in leading to colon cancer.

3. Do exercise at least 3 times a week is adequate to maintain your stamina and health. If you have any disease, it would be wise to consult with your doctor what exercise suits your current condition.

4. Adequate water is essential to your body and will help to clean your system by gently washing out offensive bacteria and germs that can harbor in the colon and lead to illness or problems.

5. Colon cleansingColon cleansing method has been so popular as an option to keep your colon healthy. Consult with your doctor if you wish to take this method.

6. Visit your doctor and have an annual medical check-up to prevent diseases.

Colon cancer

Cancer

Cancer is one of the most threatening health conditions in the world. In the last few decades, case of patients who are diagnosed with cancer has been on the rise, which is attributed to changing lifestyle patterns that increases exposure to cancerous materials. Apart from rising case of cancer, it has been noted that new forms of cancers have been recorded.  Colon cancer is one type of cancers that cause more than 655,000 deaths in the world every year. Colon cancer is the fifth most common type of cancer in United States (Weitzel, 2009). It has also been ranked as the third largest cause of cancer related deaths in developed world. Colon cancers are cancer growths in colon, rectum, or in the appendix. It is more prevalent in old people. Colon cancer can have negative effects on the elderly patients unless they get necessary treatment and social assistance (Baron et al., (2005).

 Social work can play a grater role in alleviation of effects of colon cancers among elderly.

Colon cancer is scientifically referred to as colorectal cancer.  It is also referred to as large bowel cancer. It mainly include cancerous growths on the colon, rectum, or in the appendix. Colon cancer emanates from adenomatous polyps mainly found in the colon (Weitzel, 2009).  Adenomatous polyps are mushroom-shaped, that are benign in nature, although some of them develop into cancer over a period of time.

Invasive colon cancer is usually confined to colon wall. These cancerous cells are in stage I and II and can be cured through surgery (Baron et al., (2005).  However, if they are left untreated, they usually spread within a short period of time to other regions mainly growing in lymph nodes.

By this time, invasive colon cancers are usually in stage III.  Colon cancer in stage III can also be treated but treatment is not that effective (Weitzel, 2009). Only 73% of the cancerous cells can be cured either through surgery or through chemotherapy.

If left untreated at this stage, colon cancer cells moves to stage IV. At state IV, colon cancerous cells metastasize and grow at distant sites (Weitzel, 2009). In most cases, colorectal cancer usually spread to the liver which mainly causes jaundice and abdominal pain. This is the last stage in cell growth and it is not curable. However, the life of the patient can be extended mainly through chemotherapy. It has also been noted that in some cases, surgery combined with chemotherapy can cure the patient.

Colon cancer can occur at any age (Weitzel, 2009). However, research evidence shows that the risk for colon cancer increase with age and double every ten years after one attains the age of forty years.  Colon cancer is mainly described as a disease of the elderly since more than 75% of individuals with colon cancer are aged 75 years and above (Baron et al., (2005). Median age for diagnoses of cancer stands at 72 years. In the United States, the incidence of cancer is 35/100,000 (Weitzel, 2009). This means that 1 in every 20 people are likely to suffer from colon cancer in their lifetime. However, research evidence shows that older patients are under-represented in clinical trials which imply that it has become difficult to understand the comparison between prevalence in older adults and young people.

Signs and symptoms of colorectal cancers varies depending on the part of the bowel which is affected by the tumor and whether the cancerous cells reaches stage IV and metastasizes to other body parts (Ades, 2009). However, it is sometimes difficult to diagnose colorectal cancers because these symptoms usually occur in other body parts. Local symptoms occur when the tumor is close to anus (Baron et al., (2005). Therefore, they include constipation, diarrhea, tenesmus, lower gastrointestinal bleeding, mucus, bloody stool, and many others. Sometimes, the cancer may develop into a large tumor that may obstruct the lumen leading to bowel obstruction. This leads to constipation, abdominal pain, vomiting, and other symptoms. Perforated or distended bowel leads to peritonitis. Constitutional symptoms occurs when there advances (Weitzel, 2009). For example due to bleeding patients may experience iron deficiency anemia leading to fatigue, palpitations, weight loss, and others. Symptoms of cancer may also include metastatic symptoms like jaundice, pale stool, and others which cancer spread to the liver.

Colon cancer takes many years to grow and hence early detection can be tricky although it increases the chances of cure of the condition (Cummings and Bingham, 1998).  Colon cancer is usually diagnosed through colonoscopy. However, there are many methods that are employed in screening of cancer. These include digital rectal exam (DRE) using gloved finger inserted in the distal area, fecal occult blood test (FOBT) which tests blood in the stool, and endoscopy (Weitzel, 2009). Endoscopy mainly involves sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy. However, there are other screening methods like double contrast barium enema (DCBE), virtual colonoscopy, standard computed axial tomography, and others which are used in testing colon cancer.

Course of Illness, Lifespan and Family-focused Intervention

Colon cancer is one of the most complicated health conditions that affect old people.  Due to the weakness of their body symptoms, they are at an increased risk compared to other population groups owing to these factors.  When diagnosed with the condition, old people are likely to get into deep crisis on managing their life and they are more likely to become dependant on their family members and friends for care.  When diagnosed with the condition, old people enter into a crisis period before they can accept that they have the condition. This phase can be worse for the patient especially if they don’t have other people to support them by their side (Marshall and Altpeter, 2005).  Emotional disturbances and may lack of social support may easily led to aggravation of the disease symptoms and hence patients will enter into a chronic stage. This is a dangerous phase and if not taken care of, patients can easily die from the condition. However, if they have good care after the diagnosis of the condition, they can easily recover from the initial crisis.  If an elderly person has someone who can take good care of the patient, they are in position to seek medical advice and hence recover faster compared to when they do not have anyone to take care of them.  The terminal phase is the worst phase that patients have to deal with. At terminal phase, patients suffer pain and need constant attention and care. This phase may present challenge for the patient and caretakers and in case of older people, they may be taken to a nursing home or an elderly home where they are taken care of. Terminal phase in coronary cancer is challenging phase even for patients since they understand that they are going to die.

Fresh research affirms what nutritionists have stated for years: consuming lots of high-fiber foods is a capital way to protect your health. That may sound like a steep claim. But according to investigators conducting the biggest-ever study into the relationship between diet and cancer, it’s the facts.

– 11 -

Use Fiber

Some may feel the jury is still out on fiber’s role as a cancer fighter. All the same, given the many advantages of high-fiber foods like whole grains, fruits, and veggies, the arguments for contributing more fiber to your diet are overpowering. A high-fiber diet may cut levels of blood cholesterol, help keep up regularity, and avert gastrointestinal conditions like diverticulitis.

Contrary to their processed counterparts, like white rice or white bread, whole-grain foods hold their original fiber, the nutrient-rich bran and germ, and the starchy endosperm. That may sound academic, but from a nutritional point of view it makes a huge difference.

Processing whole grains to produce a refined grain takes away most of their nutritional content. Individuals erroneously believe that the laws calling for white flour to be enriched counterbalance for the many useful nutrients lost during processing. It’s straight that a few synthetic vitamins and minerals are added to our white flour, but this does not even come close to reestablishing all the lost nutrients.

Whole wheat, for instance, contains calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, sodium, zinc, copper, manganese, and selenium. It likewise has vitamin C, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, pantothen, vitamin B6, folate, and vitamin E.

The body changes all carbohydrates into glucose. But it breaks down processed grains much faster than intact grains. The speedy breakdown of processed carbs often causes wide sways in blood

– 12 -

glucose that may trigger hunger cravings, cause the release of tension hormones, and originate the buildup of arterial plaques.

Basic whole grains include brown rice, barley, millet, oats, buckwheat, rye, and whole wheat. You may also want to try out some traditional Native American grains such as quinoa (“keen-wa”) or amaranth, found in health-food stores. Good whole-grain recipes are simple to discover on the net. But savoring these highly nutritious foods may require patience-whole grains commonly take longer to cook than refined grains.

– 13 -

Chapter 3:

Chemicals Are Not Your Friend

– 14 -

Synopsis

Toxins and Pollutants are brought into our homes day-after-day through water, food, dirt, dust and household cleansing products. For instance, the serious toxin phenol may be detected in a few disinfectants, antiseptics and even air fresheners. Continued exposure to phenols and additional toxins might have injurious effects on our nervous and respiratory systems, also induce cancers. It’s crucial to educate yourself to enable you to cut down your risk and exposure. When you start to educate yourself about the chemicals and toxins on the labels of the products in your house, you might prefer to substitute some of the toxic agents you discover with non-toxic options.

– 15 -

No Toxins

Cautiously read the list of components on all labels of your household products to make certain you’re not utilizing products that contains adverse toxins. If you check out http://www.leas.ca/Cleaners-and-Toxins.htm and click on the cleaners and toxins, it will take you to a really enlightening site and you’ll be able to download this data. You’ll learn about a lot of risky substances, one of them being Silica that’s detected in many abrasive cleansers, and about a powerful reproductive toxin Toluene [which is in many nail polishes].

Pick your seafood with wisdom in order to limit the measure of mercury that you absorb. Restrict the amount of canned tuna fish and avoid swordfish, shark, and bluefish and rather buy wild salmon, tilapia or Pacific cod. Prevent frying food and utilize grilling, broiling or roasting cooking techniques. If possible buy organic when selecting those fruits and veggies that otherwise have the highest pesticide levels.

Set up a water filter to prevent the consumption of heavy metals. You are able to review the performance rating of a lot of top brands of water filters by Googling water filter comparisons, where there are a lot of sites to choose from.

Attempt to minimize the utilization of Teflon or any additional pan that has a non-stick coating. The Environmental Working Group discovered that this cookware more rapidly reaches temperatures that bring about toxic particles and fumes. You might want to pick stainless steel or cast iron for your cookware.

– 16 -

Never microwave in plastic. Utilize packaging that’s labeled “microwave safe” or utilize glass or ceramic containers. Although the literature is controversial, many health advocacy groups feel that dioxin is brought out in plastic when its micro waved.

Be conservative about utilizing antibacterial soaps. They may contain pesticides that may be absorbed through the skin and aren’t healthy for the environment. Utilize a simple soap with water and scrub hands for twenty seconds.

Attempt to minimize the utilization of herbicides and insecticides. The toxic components can get into our system by skin contact and inhalation.

Take off your shoes before walking into the house. Pesticides from outdoor dust, lawns and invisible toxins on the ground may be easily tracked from outdoors back into your house and persist there for long periods.

Restrict your use of bleach and utilize lemon juice alternatively for whitening. Just because a few companies are getting great “green marketing gimmicks” don’t trust the advertising. Read all components on your detergent bottles. Restrict the amount of chemicals mixing with your clothes by averting the addition of any softeners into your washer or dryer.

If you get any of your clothing cleaned from pro cleaners, let these clothing items remain outside for about eight hours to keep some of the chemicals and odors from returning into your house.

– 18 -

Chapter 4:

Put Down The Smokes

– 19 -

Synopsis

No longer hacking coughs. No longer shelling out income to “XYZ Tobacco” day in day out. No more shortness of breath and no more social alienation. It’s time to quit smoking, for good.

– 20 -

Quit

The most crucial tip I may give you is a thing I like to call the “Why “. Ask yourself, “Why am I moved to give up smoking?”

Now this may be, to be fitter, to provide a better environment for kids, to breathe well, to save income, and the list goes on. If your Why isn’t firm you won’t stand by it. For instance, have you ever determined a goal to do something and never adhered to it? I’m sure most individuals have, I know I have.

Why is it occasionally we adhere to our goal and other times we don’t? It’s because of the cause behind it. If the cause to give up smoking is potent and you truly believe it, you’re much more probable to become a non smoker.

Put down your Why and keep it on you where your cigarettes commonly are. An illustration could be, “I’m going to become a non smoker for ………”

Your causes are very potent! Different individuals have different causes for stopping. Consequently it’s crucial to write your private reasons.

When weighing your causes, ensure they’re not based on force from loved ones/co-workers or acquaintances as this makes you less likely to adhere to your reasons. You have to prefer to give up smoking yourself, not based on others beliefs.

– 21 -

If you carry cigarettes you’re promoted to have one just because they’re there. It’s crucial to discard of your cigarettes and lighter to guarantee you don’t let it sway you.

Set the money you’d commonly spend on cigarettes in a jar. This is a very potent technique; many smokers don’t sit down and work out how much they’re really spending on cigarettes annually. When you virtually see the income saved that you’d normally have spent on cigarettes, you’re more likely to remain motivated.

Once you tell individuals that you’ve already quit its very potent. When individuals say “I’m trying to give up smoking” it isn’t as potent. When individuals state they’re trying to stop that gives them the reason to state, “Well it didn’t work, but I attempted!”

When man accomplishes goals, we’re proud even though we don’t always acknowledge it. So when you acknowledge you’ve quit smoking because of your Why, make certain you’re proud of it – honor yourself with the jar of money you’ve laid aside!

You may have a smoke when you awaken, or get in the car, or have a cup of java, after a meal or when you’re strained. When you awaken in the morning, substitute the smoke with a glass of water. So when the itches are there alter your behavior, anything just as long as you’re distracted from a smoke.

.

– 22 -

Chapter 5:

Add Lycopene

– 23 -

Synopsis

Lycopene supplementations are developed from carotenoid compounds that naturally happen in certain plants in orange, yellow and red pigments. These include tomatoes, carrots, sweet potatoes and corn. According to research, lycopene is among 3 common carotenoids; alpha-carotene, beta-carotene are the other 2. Read on to discover how to benefit from lycopene supplementations.

– 24 -

How To Use It

Battle and avoid cancer. Lycopene helps to ward off the establishment of tumors. Living cancer cells covered with carotenoids slow down the growth of tumors. They further the growth of fit cells and it’s suggested that a variety be eaten, as they’re most effective when carotenoids operate as a group.

As well, Carotenoids forestall the formation of plaque-forming LDL cholesterin. By forestalling the oxidation or hardening of fat, carotenoids prevent hardening of the arterial blood vessels.

Anti-oxidants in carotenoids step-up the effectiveness of the immune system in fighting back disease and infection. Tests have demonstrated that a diet high in carotene step-ups production of mononuclear cells that are key in immune system bodily function. Coming after the addition of tomatoes to the diet, subjects in fields of study of carotenoids expanded production of interleukins, a by-product of white blood corpuscles that are crucial to the immune system.

Leutien and zeaxanthin are carotenoids that are found in the macular tissue of the eyeball. Validation of their presence is a yellow spot near the middle of the retina. They separate out the sun’s adverse ultraviolet rays and prevent free radicals from injuring the retina. As we get on in years, and these things begin to diminish, we must consume foods rich in these pigments to avoid macular degeneration.

As well Lycopene is the functional carotenoid in tomato and took the public eye a lot of years ago for its shown ability to avoid prostatic adenocarcinoma. It was discovered that tomato sauce cooked in oil

– 25 -

expanded the body’s ability to absorb lycopene, which diminished the incidence of prostatic adenocarcinoma.

Although lycopene hasn’t been explicitly associated with cervical cancer prevention, the American Cancer Society reports that lycopene has been ascertained by some investigators to be an antioxidant that lowers risk of men’s prostate cancers. Lycopene is affiliated with enhancing the body’s power to battle infection, and thus it may be useful in clearing relentless HPV infections. While many veggies are more nourishing raw or whole, lycopene is found in greater concentrations in tomato sauce and tomato juice. Laying away small cans of tomato juice at work or in the auto can help avert the need to turn to unhealthy snacks while heightening cervical cancer prevention.

Chapter 6:

Get Better Sleep

– 27 -

Synopsis

If you’ve been working out to take down your risk of cancer, you should recognize that getting those additional hours on the treadmill might not do as much good if you aren’t getting enough hours of sleep likewise. A recent written report shows that acquiring at least 7 hours of sleep every night may maximize cancer prevention advantages in physically active adult females.

– 28 -

Snooze

Investigators who were a part of the field of study reexamined the information on Maryland women. In 1998, these adult females answered elaborate questions concerning their activity level and typical rest habits. Cancer statistics in the group were covered over the following 9 years. During this time period, 604 fresh cancer instances were described in the group.

In adult females between the ages of eighteen and sixty-five, those who slept at any rate 7 hours per night in addition to averaging approximately an hour per day of moderate physical exercise were forty-seven percent less likely to have cancer equated to adult females who averaged out less sleep at the equal activity level.

One doctor states, “What that indicates to us is amidst younger and middle-aged adult females, both physical activeness and sleep habits may play an crucial role in reducing cancer risk.” the entire cancer prevention benefit comes from being active and acquiring enough rest, not just sleeping more without physical exertion. You see getting decent sleep has been long affiliated with health.

As a matter of fact, lack of rest has been linked to severe conditions like diabetes, stroke, heart conditions and depressive disorder. The fact that sleep might help to prevent cancer in active adult females is just a different reason to make an effort to capture those extra hours when you are able to.

You may want to consider your life-style in general. Consider multiple life-style behaviors in more of a holistic view. It is rare that one unique action may forestall all disease, but when you blend a lot of

– 29 -

healthy lifestyle habits you have a great deal better chance of preserving good health.

Physical activity, a balanced diet of natural nutrients, and proper tension management are a few of the additional factors that have a potent influence on your health. Integrate these precepts with a beneficial night’s sleep and you’ve presented your body a fighting chance against modernistic disease.

Chapter 7:

Sun Burns Are Bad

– 31 -

Synopsis

There’s more to preventing sunburn and skin cancer than a lot of individuals recognize, as well as averting untimely wrinkling of the skin. It’s not merely about wearing sunscreen and averting sun-rays during peak hours of the day.

– 32 -

Prevent It

The beginning thing you’ll need to do is comprehend sun-rays. Ultraviolet rays, or UV rays, are the sun-rays that induce skin cancer, sunburn, and untimely wrinkling of the skin. Ultraviolet rays can be further analyzed into UVA and UVB rays. UVB rays are the ones that induce sunburn. These rays are more potent closer to the sun, such as in the summertime and closer to the equator. UVA rays induce untimely wrinkling of the skin, and are present in the same potency no matter of where you are.

Sunburn is precluded by blanking out the UVB rays of the sun with any sunscreen lotion SPF 15 or greater. You are able to avoid sunburn by avoiding the sun’s most blistering rays during the summer and before 10:00 am and after 4:00 pm, and keeping one’s distance from the sun near the equator and in elevated altitudes.

However, for skin cancer prevention and untimely wrinkles, there’s more to the equation. You need sunscreen with UVA and UVB protection, or broad spectrum protection. Helioplex is one to provide such broad spectrum protection from the sun.

Ask yourself where will you be going? If you’re going to the Sunshine State, the Caribbean Sea or South America you’ll need more sunburn protection than if you go to Bean Town, for example. Utilize higher levels of coverage. Neutrogena produces a sun block with SPF 55 with helioplex, allowing for upper limit protection. If you’ll be on a mountain, the sun-rays are greater at higher elevations. You’ll need UVA and UVB rays protection of SPF 50 or greater, like with a helioplex product. If you’re driving in your car, many windshields

– 33 -

only protect from UVB sunburn rays. You’ll need to wear a UVB sunscreen on all exposed skin, including your hands and neck.

The sun may induce damage even when you’re inside, if the sun hits your skin through a windowpane. Make certain to protect yourself from skin cancer and untimely wrinkling while inside by wearing sun block to protect from UVA rays.

Sun damage by UVA rays goes on in a tanning bed. A commercial tanning bed does not stimulate much sunburn, but skin cancer and untimely wrinkling are the consequences of tanning bed. Pick a lower tanning bed lamp. Wear a bronzing accelerator, which speeds the production of melanin in your skin. Wear low level UVA sun block as well, like SPF 4 or 8.

If you already have a sunburn, sunburn care is crucial. For sunburn alleviation and sunburn care, pick a product with Aloe and Vitamin E. Aloe helps comfort the skin and heal sunburn. Vitamin E helps elasticity return to your skin. Sunburn treatment lotion likewise may help the damage from the UVA rays, by moisturizing the skin.

At the beach or while walking about in the hot sun, use a sun umbrella to protect you from the sun injuring rays. Freckles may be a sign of overexposure to the sun and skin damage. Don’t just ignore them as normal, particularly if they occur in a fresh area of the skin in a cluster. Forever watch for signs of skin cancer, like a freckle or mole changing form. If you suspect a cancer skin symptom, have it checked by a MD. Not all apparel protects your skin from the sun-rays. Lightweight fabrics don’t protect as well as cotton.

– 34 -

Chapter 8:

A Few Less Drinks

– 35 -

Synopsis

A boastfully body of evidence consistently indicates that consumption of alcoholic beverages is a risk factor for cancer.

– 36 -

Watch The Alcohol

Drinking alcoholic beverages step-ups the danger of mouth & throat cancer (larynx and pharynx), esophageal cancer, intestine cancer (colon and rectum), liver cancer and female breast cancer.

Cancer web sites related to alcohol say it’s not just heavy boozing – even little amounts of alcoholic beverages increase risk, but the more you drink, the higher the risk.

In spite of some grounds that drinking regular, little amounts of alcohol (e.g. red wine) might reduce heart disease in older adults, there are no grounds that alcohol helps protect you from any sort of cancer.

Your risk of cancer is the same for all forms of alcoholic beverages including beer, wine and spirits.

How much should you drink?

To bring down the chance of cancer, you should confine your consumption of alcoholic beverages or, better still, avoid it all together.

For those who do drink alcoholic beverages, we advocate no more than 2 standard drinks a day.

We likewise advocate those who drink prevent binge drinking (an exclusive occasion of heavy drinking over a curt period of time) and have at least 1 or 2 alcohol-free days every week.

– 37 -

Ideas for drinking less

If you decide to drink:

? Switch alcoholic drinks with non-alcoholic ones like sparkling or plain water (soda, lime and bitters is a great option instead of alcohol).

? Consume some food when you drink alcoholic beverages. Think of a glass of wine or beer as something to have with a meal instead of on its own.

? Cut alcoholic drinks, for instance, try a shandy (beer and lemonade) or white wine and mineral water.

? Pick a low-alcohol (or no-alcohol) beer and/or wine.

? Utilize water to quench your thirst and sip alcohol-dependent drinks slowly.

? Propose to be the designated driver when you go out so you drink less, but make certain you stay under the legal limit.

– 38 -

Chapter 9:

Drop Those Extra Pounds

– 39 -

Synopsis

Obesity, specified as having a BMI (body mass index) of thirty or higher, increases the chance of developing colorectal cancer. Bringing down your weight-to-height ratio brings down your BMI, which diminishes your risk of acquiring cancer of the colon or rectum. You can’t alter your height, so the only affair left is your weight.

– 40 -

Slim Down

All additional things equivalent, obese adult males seem to be more at risk for colon cancer than weighty adult females. Likewise, particular body types appear to influence risk to a higher degree than others. Fields of study indicate that additional fat in the waist (an apple shape) step-ups colon cancer risk more than additional fat in the thighs or hips (a pear shape).

Why should you care about slimming down?

Many heavy individuals have already attempted (or are currently attempting) to slim down. So, for somebody to state “Hey, you should truly consider slimming down” might seem sort of unintelligent. Sorry about that, as all I may do here is add to the pressure.

Colorectal cancer is the second-leading grounds of U.S. cancer deaths for adult females and adult males combined. As a matter of fact, more lives are lost every year to colorectal cancer than to acquired immune deficiency syndrome and breast cancer combined. If you love yourself and you love the individuals who care about you, you’ve beneficial reasons to care about preventing colon cancer.

What do you need to do?

First of all, see if you’re looked at as obese (by the CDC) and consequently at high risk for colon cancer. To do this, calculate your BMI. If it’s thirty or higher, you ought to attempt to slim down (or keep on attempting).

– 41 -

If I could tell you how to slim down fast and easily, I would. And I would be wealthy. But regrettably, I’m not aware of any long-lasting quick fix for slimming down. I do have hints, though. As a whole, to reach and sustain a healthy weight, you will need to eat smart and be physical.

Slimming down is far from simple. Frequently, it’s frustrative and straight-out depressing. But it does not have to be that way. By eating smarter and integrating physical activity into your life, you’ll slim down. The results might be more tedious than you’d like, but you will slim down. And when you do, you’ll feel more beneficial and will have diminished your risk for a lot of sicknesses, including colon cancer.

– 42 -

Chapter 10:

Be Proactive

– 43 -

Synopsis

Cancer is the 2nd leading cause of death in the United States of America, surmounted only by heart disease. Each year cancer takes the lives of more than a one-half million individuals. A lot of cancer deaths may be avoided if more individuals were screened for cancer.

– 44 -

Screening

Screening for colorectal, breast, and cervical cancers may reduce illness and death by early spotting of cancers and pre-cancers. All the same many adults are not acquiring regular life-saving screenings as advocated. According to CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics, colorectal, breast, and cervical cancers accounted for almost twenty percent of all U.S. cancer deaths in 2001.

Early spotting may considerably reduce the billions of dollars exhausted on cancer treatment every year. Not only does cancer screening preserve lives by discovering breast, cervical, and colorectal cancers ahead of time; it likewise is the beginning step in precluding many colorectal and cervical cancers from ever arising:

• Routine screening may reduce the number of individuals who die from colorectal cancer by at the least 60%.

• A mammogram executed every 1-2 years for adult females aged 40 years and over may reduce death rates by approximately 20%-25% during a 10-year time period.

• Pap tests may discover precancerous lesions so they may be addressed before cervical cancer grows. Researchers in a lot of countries discovered that rates of cervical cancer death dropped by 20%-60% after screening programs started.

Many American adults are alive and healthy now as they were screened for cancer, and each year more individuals are being screened.

– 45 -

Solid scientific evidence indicates that regular colorectal cancer screening starting at age 50 brings down incidence and mortality from colorectal cancer. Colorectal cancer screening may find pre-cancerous polyps so they may be removed and avoid cancer from evolving. Screening likewise may detect colorectal cancer at an early stage when treatment may be most effective.

Regular screening for colorectal cancer may bring down deaths by as much as 60%.

Deaths from breast and cervical cancers happen disproportionately among adult females who are uninsured or underinsured. Mammography and Pap tests are underused by women who have no source or no regular source of healthcare, adult females without health insurance, and adult females who immigrated to the America inside the past 10 years.

– 46 -

Wrapping Up

Cancer is a disease that touches on a lot of individuals. Many cancer-causing agents have been discovered by researchers. Most forms of cancer can be prevented by making a few primary life-style alterations, such as exercising and eating healthy, averting sun exposure and refraining from tobacco use.

Preventing cancer, the leading killer worldwide, isn’t as easy as popping a pill or getting a vaccination. All the same, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than thirty percent of all cancer deaths can be prevented. Tobacco use is the single biggest factor when determining cancer risk. You are able to incorporate all these strategies in your fight against cancer or to prevent it and help prolong your life.

Cervical Cancer: What It Does And How It Is Treated

Cancer

Cervical cancer develops progressively. Before the actual cancer appears, the cervical cells mutate (a process called dysplasia) and turn into abnormal cells belonging to the cervical tissue. Later on, neoplastic cells multiply and spread throughout the cervical colon until they reach neighbouring organs.

Infection with the HPV virus is the most frequent cause of cervical cancer.

There are no symptoms for this type of cancer, but it can be diagnosed by means of annual testing. Early cancer may not present any symptoms or visible signs. Women should check in with their doctor annually, and have the Papanicolaou test (Pap test) carried out, in order to check if there are any modified cells within the cervix.

Risk factors for cervical cancer

The most important risk factor for cervical cancer is HPV-virus infection. HPV stands for “Human Papiloma Virus). However, not all women with HPV virus develop cervical cancer.

Other possible risk factors:

An increased number of pregnancies;

Multiple sexual partners;

First sexual contact at a very young age;

Smoking;

Oral contraceptives;

Weak natural immunity.

Symptoms for cervical cancer

There are no symptoms that announce cervical cancer. Nonetheless, cancer may be diagnosed by means of annual testing. Cancer, in its earliest development, may not present any relevant signs of its presence at all.

Women should take the Pap test early in order to see if there are any modified cells within their cervix. The chances of recovery are better when the cancer is diagnosed at an early stage.

Possible cancer clues include vaginal bleeding and pain. It is recommended you see the doctor if the following symptoms are present:

Vaginal bleeding;

Unusual vaginal discharges;

Pelvic pain;

Pain during sex (also referred to as dyspareunia).

Investigations in cervical cancer

Tests for cervix examination are used to detect and diagnose cervical cancer. The following investigations are usual and recommended:

The Papanicolau test (or “Pap test”)

This test consists of harvesting cell samples from the cervical colon and from the vagina. A small piece of cotton, wood of brush is used when gently harvesting the cells (this does not hurt at all). The cells are, afterwards, studied at a microscope to see if they are modified.

Colposcopy

This is the method through which the doctor may take a look inside the vagina and the cervix in order to spot modified areas. The colposcope (a thin tube with a light-bulb at its tip) is introduced into the cervix through the vagina. This method is also used in order to harvest some tissue samples for biopsy.

Biopsy

If, during the Pap test, modified cells are fond, the doctor will also conduct a biopsy. A small tissue sample is harvested from the cervix and studied at the microscope for signs of cancer.

Pelvic objective examination

This consists of an examination of the vagina, the cervix, the uterus, the Fallopian tubes and the rectum. Two lubricated fingers inside a medical glove are introduced into the vagina and the other hand is placed on the patient’s lower abdominal area in order to feel the size, shape and position of the uterus and the ovaries. A speculum is used to analyse the aspect of the vagina and the cervix.

Endocervical curettage

This is a method used for harvesting tissue or cell samples from the cervical area with the help of a scoop (a medical instrument shaped like a spoon).

Chances of recovery from cervical cancer

There is a number of factors that affect the chances of recovery and the treatment option.

The chances of recovery depend on:

The stage in which the cancer is. Specifically, if it only affects a part of the cervical colon or has already invaded the whole cervix and spread to the lymph nodes or other parts of the body;

The type of cervical cancer (see below);

The size of the tumor.

The treatment opted for depends on:

The stage in which the cancer is;

The size of the tumor;

Whether the patient wants to have children or not;
Patient’s age.
Stages of cervical cancer

After the cancer is diagnosed, research is carried out in order to find out if cancer cells have spread throughout the cervix or other parts of the body. The method by means of which cell invasion is studied is called cancer staging. Information retrieved through the process of staging determines the stage of the cancer. Stage is, in its turn, essential for opting for the best type of treatment. The following investigations may be used during the process of staging:

Chest radiography. This X-Rays the organs and bones of the chest. A radiography is obtained by exposing the chest to X-rays that pass through the body and project themselves on a film, resulting in a “photo” of the anatomical regions of interest;
Computer tomography. This is an investigation by means of which detailed photos of the anatomical regions of interest are taken, from different angles. The photographs are taken by a computer connected to the X-Ray machine. Contrast substance may be used, in which case it is injected in veins or swallowed, so that it may afterwards stress out the image;
Lymphangiography is an investigation method for the lymphatic system. A contrast substance is injected into the lymphatic vessels in your legs. The contrast substance moves upwards through the lymph nodes and radiographies are taken to spot any obstructions. This investigation helps detect tumor invasions within the lymphatic area;Surgical pre-therapeutic staging consists of an investigation of the area to see if tumor cells have extended within the cervix or other parts of the body. In some cases, cervical cancer may be excised in the same time;
Echography is the ultra-sonic examination through which ultra-sounds reflect or change their direction when they meet tissues or organs, producing echoes. Echoes afterwards produce an image of the tissues, called sonogram;
NMR (Magnetic Nuclear Resonance) is a method in which a magnet, some magnetic waves and a computer are used in order to take a series of detailed photos of the body.

These results are analysed and concurred with those from the biopsy in order to determine one of the following stages of cervical cancer.

Stages of cervical cancer

Cervical cancer has the following stages of development:

Stage 0 (zero). The tumor cells are located only in the first layer of the cervix cells and has not, thus, invaded profound layers.

Stage I. The cancer is limited to the cervix. Based on the quantity of the tumor tissue, this stage is divided into stage IA and stage IB:

Stage IA: the tumor tissue found in the cervix may only be observable through the microscope. The cancer does not go below 5mm in tissue depth and does not spread more than 7mm in width;
Stage IB: cancer is observable only through the microscope and goes deeper into the tissue than 5mm and wider than 7mm. Also, there are cases where cancer may be observed without the microscoper and may be spread over 4 cm, but still within the limits of the cervix.

Stage II. The cancer has spread beyond the cervix, but still not beyond the pelvic wall. Stage II is also divided into A and B, based upon the incisiveness of the cancer:

Stage IIA: the cancer spreads beyond the cervix up until the superior 2/3 area of the vagina, but still it is not present within the tissues around the uterus;Stage IIB: the cancer spreads beyond the cervix up until the superior 2/3 area of the vagina and within the tissues around the uterus.

Stage III. The cancer invades the inferior part of the vagina and may also invade the pelvic wall, alongside its neighbouring lymph nodes. This stage is also divided into A and B, according to how much tumor cells have spread:

Stage IIIA: the cancer invades the lower part of the vagina, but not the pelvic wall;Stage IIIB: cancer cells have spread within the pelvic wall and / or they have spread so much that the ureters (the channels that connect the kidneys and the bladder) are blocked. These “jams” lead to swells in kidneys and, eventually, to their failure. Cancer cells may also invade the lymph nodes from the pelvis.

Stage IV. In this stage, the cancer affects the bladder, the rectum or any other separate organ from the body. Stage IV is divided into stages IVA and IVB, according to the localisation of the tumor cells:

Stage IVA: the cancer has spread to the bladder or to the rectal wall, or to the lymph nodes from the pelvis;
Stage IVB: the cancer has spread beyond the pelvis and the pelvic lymph nodes, to other parts of the body, e.g. the abdomen, liver, intestines or lungs.

Recurrent cervical cancer. This nomenclature is used for cervical cancer which appears once more after it has been treated. Cervical cancer may once again appear within the cervix, or other areas of the body.

Treatment of cervical cancer

There are multiple treatment options for women with cervical cancer. Some of these are standard (used frequently), and others are tested in clinical studies. Before beginning a treatment, women may consider the possibility of participating within a clinical trial. A treatment that is included in a clinical trial is a research study that strives to better standard treatments or to obtain new information on new treatments that concern cancer therapy. When a clinical trial proves that a new treatment is better than a standard one, that new treatment may, in its turn, become standard.

Choosing the most adequate treatment for cancer is a decision that usually implies patients, family and doctors. There are three standard treatments:

Surgery in cervical cancer

Surgery is sometimes curative. The following surgical procedures are practiced:

Conization is a method by means of which a conical part of the tissue is removed from the cervix and the cervical colon. Doctors analyse the tissue with the help of a microscope and afterwards choose the best type of treatment, or the best diagnosis. This method is also called conical biopsy;
Total hysterectomy is a method by means of which the uterus and the cervix are removed surgically. If the uterus and the cervix are removed through the vagina, the method is called vaginal hysterectomy. Other types of hysterectomies are: abdominal hysterectomy and Laparoscopic hysterectomy;Bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy is a surgical method used for the ablation of both ovaries, as well as of the Fallopian tubes;
Radical hysterectomy does the same thing as the total hysterectomy, but also additionally removes part of the vagina. The ovaries and the Fallopian tromps, as well as the neighbouring lymph nodes, may also be removed during this procedure;
Pelvic exenteration is a method through which the lower colon, the rectum and the bladder are removed. At women, the cervix, vagina, ovaries and lymph nodes are also removed. Artificial openings are created in order to eliminate urine and fecal matter. Plastic surgery is necessary in order to rebuild a new vagina after the operation;
Cryosurgery is a treatment that uses a special machine for cryogenics and destruction of abnormal tissue. This is also called cryotherapy;
Laser vaporization is a method in which laser beams are used similar to a knife in order to cut out cancer tissue. Laser is better than a knife because it cuts without provoking bleedings.

Radiotherapy in cervical cancer

Radiotherapy is a cancer treatment that uses X-rays of very high energy, or other types of rays, in order to destroy cancer tumors. There are two types of radiotherapy. External radiotherapy uses a machine that sends radiation towards the cancer, while internal radiotherapy uses a radioactive substance contained in needles, seds and wires that are placed directly into or near the cancer. The irradiation method depends on the type and the stage of the cancer to be treated.

Chemotherapy in cervical cancer

Chemotherapy is a treatment of cancer that uses pharmaceutic substances in order to stop the growth or division of cancer cells. When chemotherapy is conducted orally or through injection in veins/muscles, the substances enter the bloodstream and reach malignant cells from the organism. This is called systematic chemotherapy. Another way to conduct chemotherapy is straight into the spinal cord, into an organ or a cavity (such as the abdomen). This is called regional chemotherapy.

Treatment options according to cancer stage

Stage 0 (zero). Treatment includes:

Laser surgery;

Conization;

Cryosurgery;

Total hysterectomy for women that cannot have children or do not wish to have future children;

Internal radiotherapy for women that cannot be submitted to surgery.

Stage IA. Treatment includes:

Total hysterectomy with or without bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy;
Conization;

Radical hysterectomy and the removal of lymph nodes;

Internal radiotherapy.

Stage IB. Treatment includes:

A combination between internal and external radiotherapy;

Radical hysterectomy and the removal of lymph nodes, followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy;

Stage IIA. Treatment includes:

A combination between internal and external radiotherapy;

Radical hysterectomy and resection of lymph nodes;

Radiotherapy and chemotherapy

Stage IIB, III and IVA. Treatment may include internal and external radiotherapy, combined with chemotherapy.

Stage IVB. Treatment includes:

Palliative radiotherapy;

Chemotherapy.

Treatment for recurrent cancer includes the following:

Pelvic exenteration;
Radiotherapy, combined with chemotherapy, as a palliative treatment.

During pregnancy, treatment of cervical cancer depends on the stage of the cancer and the age of the fetus. In late pregnancies, treatment may be delayed until after the birth of the baby.

How To Win Battle Against Cancer

Cancer

Article by Cancer Hospital India

As per WHO 33% women and 25% men are likely to get cancer in their life time. Incidence of cancer is increasing with every passing day. Cancer is global problem and has to be tackled globally. Battle against cancer can not be won by doctors and scientists alone. The entire community has to be involved. It is possible to prevent 40 – 50% cancer by adopting healthy life styles, to detect 10 – 20% cancers by self examination and 40 – 50% cancers by Annual Cancer Check ups. Cancer is curable, if detected early and treated promptly at good cancer centers.

Steps for Prevention of Cancer

Stop smoking (active and passive) and alcohol to prevent lung, head and neck cancers. Avoid high fat and rich foods; eat whole grains, fruits and fresh vegetables to prevent cancer of breast, prostate and colon. Exercise to stay healthy Avoid exposure to – household solvent cleaners, cleaning fluids, and paint thinners, pesticides, fungicides and other chemicals to avoid lung cancer. Avoid multiple sex partners to avoid cancer cervix. Avoid direct sunlight in summers to avoid skin cancers. Get screening tests like the Pap smears, mammograms, Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) and Digital Rectal Examinations (Dress) for secondary prevention.

Steps for Early Diagnosis

Each and every individual should do self examination once a month. Each and every individual visiting his / her doctor for any ailment should be screened for cancer. Annual cancer check up should be done at cancer hospitals. Suspected cancer cases should be investigated urgently to confirm or rule out cancer.

Steps before Starting the Treatment Tissue diagnosis to confirm / rule out cancer by FNAC / Biopsy. Staging work up to confirm stage of the disease. Tumour Board Evaluation to chart out custom made treatment plan for each individual, as per standard treatment guidelines. Choosing NABH Accredited cancer hospitals, offering quality cancer treatment.

Advantages Of Tumour Board Evaluations

A panel of cancer experts i.e. Medical Oncologists, Radiation Oncologists, Surgical Oncologists, Gynae Oncologists, Paediatric Oncologists, Onco-pathologists, Radiologists and Imaging experts, get together to review and plan suitable modality or modalities of treatment. Treatment is need driven and not doctor driven. Patients get the choice of surgery or radiotherapy, if the results are same by both modalities. Patients are saved from unnecessary surgeries, if the surgeries cannot be performed. Patients get complete treatment. This prevents recurrence due to incomplete treatment. Chances of cure / improvement in quality of life are much higher because of right and optimum treatment. Patients are saved from Medical shopping and get expert opinion under one roof by spending one consultation fee only.

Modalities Of Cancer Treatment

Radiation

Cancer is treated by giving external radiation with linear accelerators and internal radiation i.e. brachytherapy. The newer techniques of Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy ensures that healthy tissues surrounding the tumour are not exposed to radiation to prevent side effects of radiotherapy. Radiation oncologists and physicists work together as a team to give radiation.

Cancer Surgery Cancer Surgeries are very complex lasting 2 – 12 hours. A dedicated team of surgical oncologists and Anaesthesiologists, supported by other allied specialists is a must. Surgical oncologists are best suited to decide whether surgeries have to be conservative or radical.

Chemotherapies

Medical oncologists are trained exclusively to plan and manage chemotherapies and their side effects. Chemotherapies can be Normal and High Dose, including dose-intense and dose-dense; Infusional multiple and single drug; Bolus Chemotherapies; Intra-arterial chemotherapy; Targeted Therapies; Immunotherapy / Biological Therapies; Hormonal Therapies; Neutropenic Care; Nutritional Therapy; Palliative and Terminal Supportive Care; blood transfusion and I/V fluids etc. The radiotherapists and surgeons are not trained to perform chemotherapies.

Cancer in Teens

Cancer

The word cancer actually concerns to many diseases, not one. In fact, there are more than 100 types of diseases known collectively as cancer. What they all have in common is the overgrowth of cells, tiny units that make up all living things. Cancer (also known as malignancy, pronounced: muh-lig-nun-see) takes place when cells begin to grow and multiply in an uncontrolled way.

Normal body cells cultivate and divide over a period of time until they eventually die. But cancer cells continue to grow and divide and grow and divide. Eventually, they gather to form tumors. Tumors (pronounced: too-murz) are lumps that can interfere with the body’s normal processes. Sometimes cells from a tumor break away and travel to a different tissue or organ. This is called metastasis (pronounced: muh-tas-tuh-sus).

As terrifying as all this sounds, most cancers can be treated and controlled and many people with cancer get better and lead normal lives.

Reason to get affected by Cancer
No one really knows why cancer grows in specific people. Scientists and researchers are working to learn why some people get cancer and others do not. This will help them to learn whether cancer can be prevented.

Doctors do have some ideas about why people may get cancer, though. The main reasons are genetics and certain environmental or behavioral triggers.

The disposition to build up some types of cancer is believed to be inherited – that is, the genes you were born with might carry a predisposition for cancer. For example, if a close relative has had cancer of the breast or the colon, you may be more likely to inherit the tendency to develop those cancers, even though you may never actually get them.

Several behavioral and environmental triggers can cause changes in the body’s cells that push them into a cancerous state. For example, cigarettes are known to increase the risk of lung cancer. Too much exposure to the sun can increase the risk of skin cancer. These types of triggers act on the body slowly over time, so the cancers that may result from them don’t show up until a person is an adult. That’s one reason why teens don’t get the same types of cancers as adults do.

Doctors do know for sure that cancer itself is not contagious, so you don’t have to worry about catching it from someone else or spreading it to another person (although people with certain infectious diseases such as AIDS or hepatitis are more vulnerable to certain cancers). Cancer is also never a person’s fault. It’s simply not true that a person may have done something wrong to get the disease.

Sign of Cancer
The first sign of cancer is a symptom – a signal that something is wrong. There are many diverse signs that a person may have cancer, just as there are many different forms of the disease. A few of the more common symptoms of cancer include:

    * extreme exhaustion
    * swelling or lumps in certain parts of the body, such as the abdomen or neck
    * headaches
    * blurred vision
    * nausea

Only you know how your body works and what you feel like when you’re healthy. If you haven’t been feeling well, it’s better to tell an adult who can make sure you see a doctor who will evaluate your symptoms. Cancer, like most illnesses, is easier to treat when it’s found early, so when in doubt, check it out.

If a doctor suspects that a person has cancer, he or she will order various tests. These might include blood tests, in which doctors scrutinize blood cells under a microscope to look for problems, X-rays, or an MRI, a test that can be used to detect tumors. Doctors also often use a biopsy (pronounced: bye-op-see) to diagnose cancer. In this procedure, a doctor removes a small tissue sample to examine it for cancer cells.

 Doctors’ way to Treat Cancer
Most cancers can be treated, especially the types of cancers teens are likely to get. The number of people who overcome cancer goes up every year because of new cancer treatments.

There are three widespread methods for treating cancer: surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. Because cancer is different in each patient, each person’s treatment plan will be individually designed for him or her. A person with cancer may undergo any one of these treatments or a combination of them. A doctor who specializes in treating people with cancer is called an oncologist (pronounced: ahn-kah-luh-jist).

Surgery takes away cancerous tissue. Depending on the location of a person’s cancer, surgery can be simple or complex, so the operation may be an outpatient procedure (where a person is in and out of the hospital on the same day) or may require that the person stay in the hospital. Generally, the surgeon removes the cancerous tissue along with a small amount of the healthy tissue surrounding it to make sure that all the cancer is removed and has not spread.

The healing of cancer using medication is called chemotherapy. Specific cancers respond well to chemotherapy, which can often be given on an outpatient basis. A person who is having chemotherapy may experience nausea, fatigue, hair loss, or other side effects. Some of these side effects happen because chemotherapy medicines may destroy some healthy cells in the process of getting rid of the malignant cells. In time, these healthy cells will start to grow again and most of the side effects will disappear.

Radiation, or radiotherapy, is an additional method of treating cancer. A person getting radiation for cancer will probably be treated by a radiation oncologist, someone who specializes in using radiation to kill cancer cells. Radiotherapy machines deliver powerful X-rays or high-energy electrons to the part of a person’s body that’s affected by cancer. After repeated doses of high levels of radiation, many cancerous tumors shrink or disappear.

Radiation therapy is generally painless, but there may be a quantity of side effects. Side effects of radiation therapy may include fatigue, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. Some patients complain that the area of skin that’s irradiated feels sunburned. But most of these side effects are temporary.

Dealing With and Improving From Cancer
Dealing with cancer and cancer treatments can disrupt a person’s life for a while. People with cancer often need to get sustain from lots of different places to take care of the things they have to get done. For example, teens with cancer may need the help of a home tutor to get schoolwork done and adults with cancer may need help with housework or their jobs. And lots of people talk to therapists or professional counselors about the emotional side of dealing with a health problem.

You may hear doctors talk about a prognosis for a person with cancer. A prognosis is an estimate of how well that person’s treatment is working and how likely it is that the cancer will come back.

Subsequent to surgery or treatment with radiation or chemotherapy, a doctor will do tests to see if the cancer is still there. If there are no signs of cancer, then that person is in what’s called remission (pronounced: rih-mih-shun). Remission is the goal when anyone with cancer goes to the hospital for treatment. Sometimes, additional treatment, such as chemotherapy, might be needed for a while to keep a person in remission and to keep cancer cells from coming back.
